Privacy Policy
Your wallet deserves clear answers. Here is how BTC Wallet handles information on your device, on the network, and when you contact us.
01. Who we are
This policy covers the BTC Wallet iOS application and this website, provided under the name Btc Wallet & Tokens (“we”, “us”). For privacy questions or requests, contact [email protected].
02. On your device
BTC Wallet is a self-custody wallet. Your recovery phrase and optional passphrase are stored in the iOS Keychain with device-only protection. Private keys are derived on your device to sign transactions. The app does not transmit your recovery phrase, passphrase, or private keys to us or to its network data providers.
Public account information, wallet addresses, balances, transaction history, pending payments, saved recipients, notes, watchlists, alerts, and settings are stored locally as needed for the features you use. Market and wallet data may be cached to reduce loading times. The wallet’s saved recipients are entered in the app; the app does not request access to your phone’s address book.
03. Network services
To show balances, transaction history and fee estimates, and to broadcast signed payments, the app connects to third-party Bitcoin services, currently mempool.space, Blockstream and mempool.emzy.de. Requests may contain public wallet addresses, transaction identifiers, or signed transaction data. These services can also receive your IP address and ordinary connection metadata.
Market prices and charts are requested from services including CoinGecko, Coinbase and Binance. Market requests include the asset and selected currency; remote coin-image hosts may also receive connection information when images load. A price proxy, if you configure one, receives the requests routed through it.
These independent services process information under their own policies. Public addresses are not secret, but requests can reveal connections between your addresses and your IP address. Bitcoin transactions are public and may remain on the blockchain indefinitely; we cannot remove or change those records.
04. Permissions & choices
- Camera: used to scan a Bitcoin address or payment QR code. The app processes the scan on your device and does not upload camera images.
- Device authentication: Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode can authorize access and payments. iOS handles authentication; the app does not receive your biometric template.
- Notifications: used for local alerts you choose to create. Permissions can be changed in iOS Settings.
Cloud portfolio syncing is not enabled in the current app configuration. If a future version offers it, information about the service and the public portfolio data involved will be provided before you choose to enable it. It is not a backup of your recovery phrase.
05. Website & support
This website does not include advertising trackers or analytics scripts added by us. Hosting and access-control providers may process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details and request logs, and use essential cookies to deliver and protect the site. Their own policies apply to their services.
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request, troubleshoot issues and maintain support records. Our email provider processes these communications to deliver and store them.
Never send your recovery phrase, private keys or device passcode to support. We do not need them to help you. The app does not include an advertising or cross-app tracking SDK.
06. Retention & your rights
Local wallet information remains on your device until you remove it using the app’s controls or it is otherwise deleted. Use the wallet-removal option in the app to remove its local wallet data. Deleting the app alone may leave Keychain items on the device. Save your recovery phrase securely before removing wallet data if you want to retain access to your Bitcoin.
We keep support correspondence only for as long as needed to handle the request, maintain necessary support records, and meet applicable legal obligations. Technical records held by independent network and hosting providers follow those providers’ retention practices.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, restrict or object to processing, or complain to a data protection authority. Send requests to [email protected]. We may need to verify a request without asking for wallet secrets. We cannot delete public blockchain records or recover keys that only you control.
07. Changes & contact
We may update this policy as the app or its services change. The date at the top shows the latest revision. We will provide additional notice or request consent where required by applicable law.
